What is your philosophy about birth and supporting women and their partners through labor?

We see our role during labor as doing whatever is necessary to help you have as ideal a birth as possible.  We will support you in that and do all that we can to help you throughout the experience. We’re happy to help navigate you through medical interventions and pain medication, or advocate for a completely natural birth.

May we meet to discuss our birth plans and the role you will play in supporting me through birth?

We would love to meet with you! A prenatal appointment is online or in person. Clients are welcome to add an a la carte prenatal appointment. Please email us at [email protected]  to schedule an appointment. You’re always invited to our free monthly Meet The Birthing Team, as well.

May we call you with questions or concerns before and after the birth?

Absolutely. You can reach the doula on call by phone any time day or night at your private number that will be given to you at the time of securing me. You can email me anytime at ( [email protected] )

Nobody's getting rich doing doula work.  But every doula should be able to make a decent living doing what she loves doing.  I wish I could offer my services at an even lower rate, but that would require that I make even greater financial sacrifices than I am already making to do this work.  I am a self-supporting professional, and my options are to earn a living wage working with birth or to have a more conventional job. I would rather help you ensure a safe, stress free birth. Also note that  your retainer fee is non refundable.

I am mobile.I can come to your Charlotte area location and in your phone.

Ashley just minutes after giving birth in water.

When do you try to join women in labor? Do you come to our home or meet us at the place of birth?

We will leave that decision to you. Some couples like for their doula to come to their house to provide early labor support and help them decide when to go to the hospital. Others prefer to spend early labor alone together as a couple. They’ll keep in touch with the doula over the phone and have her meet them at the hospital.

Do you meet with us after the birth to review the labor and answer questions?

Postpartum Care- I've given birth nine times. After every single birth my baby had a line of loving hands just waiting to change their diaper.

as I laided in the bed wondering what's taking them so long to help me go empty my bowels.

Postpartum Care is for the mom.  It's also an opportunity for your village to take care of you. Postpartum care is important because new moms are at risk of serious and sometimes life-threatening health complications in the days and weeks after giving birth. Too many new moms have or even die from health problems that may be prevented by getting postpartum care.

The postpartum period begins after the delivery of your baby and ends when your body has nearly returned to its pre-pregnant state. This period often lasts 6 to 8 weeks.

The postpartum period involves your moving through many changes, both emotionally and physically.

I like to see you within two weeks of your birth. At the postpartum visit, we’ll review your birth, discuss any breastfeeding issues you have, and suggest any further resources that might be useful to you. We also offer optional tutorials and rentals on breast pumps, baby wear, cloth diapers, lessons on infant massage, sleep training and many other topics.

This visit usually takes 2-3 hours.
